Winner of Nature Photographer of the Year 2007 Award in Australia, NZ and the region. (ANZANG Nature photography competition.)
Nature photography is my passion and my way of promoting wildlife awareness.
I was born in Israel and moved to Australia in 2002 where I do most of my photography.
I started to take pictures of birds at the age of 21 with an old Olympus OM-1 body and a 300mm manual focus lens. My old photographs were published in various magazines and publications in Israel and overseas.
A few years later I, together with my brother Ido who is also a photographer, made a wildlife film about Kingfishers in Israel. This film won the “BBC Newcomers Award” in “Wildscreen’88” which is a leading International wildlife film festival.
For various reasons I drifted away from nature photography for a lengthy period of time, returning with a burning enthusiasm about three years ago when I bought my first digital SLR – Canon 10D. I currently use Canon 1D mark II, Canon 500mm f-4 and Canon 300mm f-2.8 with x2 and x1.4 teleconverters.
Going digital has opened many exciting opportunities. It has made bird photography much more exciting and creative for me. My skills have been honed by an active involvement with the USA websites, NatureScapes.net and NaturePhotographers.net, in both I used to serve as a Moderator in the BIRDS forums.
These are the leading International websites for nature photography, and boasts the finest nature photographers from all around the world, showing their work and exchanging ideas and techniques.
Please contact me if you have questions about my work and/or bird photography as the way I see things, nature photography is a great way to help win the battle for nature conservation and I will do what I can to help as many photographers as possible… Hope you enjoy my website.
